Tim completed his PhD at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, in 2016, and started a post-doctoral position with Professor Steven Sherwood at UNSW's CCRC in 2020. Tim's research interests are in radar meteorology, precipitation microstructure, and convective processes. He is interested in the small-scale variability of precipitation, which influences our ability to accurately use remote sensing techniques like radar, and to properly represent precipitation in weather and climate models. He is interested in unraveling how climate change may affect severe thunderstorms, including hailstorms, in the future. At the CCRC he is using high-resolution regional climate simulations to help understand how changes in atmospheric temperature and moisture affect modeled convective processes.
