Google Earth Engine is a geospatial processing service. Earth Engine provides an interactive platform for geospatial algorithm development at scale, powered by Google Cloud Platform. Dr. Sami Rifai will give a quick demonstration of:

    • Searching the image collections
    • Visualizing images and image Bands
    • Computations using Images
    • Exporting images

No previous experience with Earth Engine is required.

Speaker Biography: Sami is a postdoctoral researcher at the UNSW Climate Change Research Centre and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate Extremes. He is a remote sensing enthusiast, and his key interests are the ecosystem ecology tropical and sub-tropical forests and how they are affected by climatic extremes.  He obtained his PhD from the University of Florida, and was previously a postdoctoral researcher in the Environmental Change Institute at the University of Oxford.
